State
This entry indicates the jurisdiction in which you have searched. If you submitted a multi-state search, the results will be grouped by state, and the states will appear in alphabetical order.
Entity
This entry indicates the entity for which you have searched. If you submitted a multi-entity search, the results will be grouped by entity, and the entities will appear in alphabetical order. Please note that, while individual state rules are often applicable to many different Study Entities, your search results will only list the entity(ies) for which you have searched.
Topics
This entry indicates the topic for which you have searched. Any other topics under which the state rule has been listed will be shown under the heading "Related Topics," immediately following the topic you searched. If you submitted a multi-topic search, the results will be grouped by topic, and the topics will appear in alphabetical order.
State Rule(s)
This column contains a summary of the state rule, including a citation to the rule itself. In circumstances where individual provisions of the state rule must be analyzed differently with respect to HIPAA, the individual provisions of the state rule are followed by a number that corresponds to the applicable recommendation and analysis.
HIPAA Rule(s)
This column contains a summary of the HIPAA provisions that relate to the state rule, including a citation to the relevant portion of the HIPAA rule itself. In circumstances where individual provisions of a state rule must be analyzed differently with respect to HIPAA, the heading of the HIPAA provision that applies to each part of the state rule is followed by a number that corresponds to the applicable provision of the state rule.
Analysis/Recommendation
This column describes the compliance recommendation and analysis for the state rule as it relates to HIPAA. Where different recommendations and/or analyses apply to different parts of the state rule, the various recommendations and analyses are preceded by numbers corresponding to the numbering of the individual provisions in the state rule.
